Angela LoRusso ’19

On Saturday, January 7th, the Wrestling team competed at the St. Pete City Championship held at Northeast High School. Nine schools competed, including Admiral Farragut Academy.

“We were fortunate to have great success at the event, earning two individual championships and six place winners in the top four of their bracket,” said Andrew Lacroix, wrestling coach and English teacher at Farragut.

Special congratulations to Caleb Lemmons ’20 and Dillon Ottinger ’17, who both won the city championship in dominating fashion by pinning their way through the tournament. Dillon is now a very impressive 20-1 for the season.

Haowen Li ’17 placed second, losing a tough bout in overtime in the finals. Chris Sexton ’17 placed third, and Erik Sokolowski ’20 and Chris Kozarzycki ’17 placed 4th.

Also, at McArthur HS in Hollywood, Angela LoRusso ’19 competed in the South Florida Girls Championship. Angela went 3-1, eventually placing second. She lost in the finals to a returning state runner-up in a competitive bout.
