Choosing the Right Fit
Applicants must have a proven academic record, a strong work ethic, a desire to excel, and a commitment to our core values. We will only accept applicants who are willing to become a member of the Regiment of Cadets. We are a school built to lead with students who are motivated to do the same. While we are founded on a service tradition, we are not an institution equipped to accommodate students with any behavior problems.
The Admissions Process
The admissions process begins with an online application. Once the application and fee have been submitted one of our Admissions Associates will work with you and your child to complete and prep the file for the Admissions Committee review. Approximately 90% of applicants are offered a letter of acceptance.
What type of student is Farragut looking for?
First, we look for academic achievement and promise, as shown by a student’s transcripts, test scores, evaluations, teacher recommendations, and a personal interview. We pay close attention to personal qualities like motivation, character, and a variety of extracurricular interests. Most importantly, we look for students who recognize Admiral Farragut Academy as an opportunity for academic and personal growth and who indicate an eagerness to fully engage in the Farragut community and culture.
When can I apply and enroll to Farragut?
What grade can my child start boarding at Farragut?
We offer 5-day boarding and 7-day boarding to girls and boys beginning in the 8th grade.
My child has had behavior issues and/or currently has behavior issues. Will he/she be accepted?
We cannot accept students with any behavior issues.
Does Farragut provide scholarships?
No, we apologize, but our school does not give out academic, sports, service members or single parent household scholarships. We do accept funds from Step Up for Students and McKay. However, these scholarships do not provide a substantial reduction on the cost tuition.
My child struggles academically. Is Farragut a good fit for him/her?
Students must be passing their current grade and/or promoted to their next grade.
Do I have to pay the $100 application fee if I am not sure that my child will be accepted?
Yes. In order for your child’s application to be processed and reviewed for admission, the application fee is mandatory.
Does Farragut accept students with learning differences?
We do accept students with learning differences on a case by case basis. Our Center for Academic Success offers academic support services for an additional fee. We require all psychological educational testing as part of the admissions requirements. A decision regarding admission is made after reviewing this paperwork. If we feel the need for additional testing, parents will be notified accordingly.
