While we hoped that the approval of a vaccine would allow us to move about and gather more freely, the reality is that the status of COVID-19 is not improving as rapidly as we hoped. The appearance of the new and more contagious strain now seen in Florida and other states is a growing concern for our alumni and school community. After careful consideration and out of an abundance of caution, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person Homecoming event that was scheduled for February 5 – 7, 2021.
Because we understand that now more than ever we need to stay connected, we will host a virtual Homecoming gathering on Feb 6, 2021, starting at 6:00 PM, and hope you will be able to join us. Come and connect with your classmates from the comfort of your home. Featuring guest speaker RADM Mark Buzby ’75N USN (Ret.), State of School address with COL Donna Brazil Interim Head of School, and a virtual happy hour.
Gather with other alumni from the safety and comfort of your own home to enjoy seeing Farragut of Today, spoken from current students and teachers, a speech on emotional connection and affinity by event guest speaker RADM Mark Buzby ‘75N (Ret.), a State-of-the-School Address by Interim Head COL Donna Brazil, as well as breakout sessions to enjoy happy hour with other graduating classes to share your Farragut memories. We hope that you will join us!
We just experienced the ultimate return to home that sent us to where we are today. I am sure that you are impressed as I with the direction that Farragut has taken. Some of our classmates have declared we are aiming for the 65th (reunion).

My son and I certainly enjoyed the Reunion & Homecoming weekend with you. It stirred up many fond memories of the 3 years I was a cadet and reminded me of many more activities that I’d forgotten. We were quite impressed touring the fine facility that has been created at Farragut South and congratulate you on this ongoing accomplishment. The enthusiasm of the graduates attending this Reunion was most genuine and heartwarming as well as the cadets we met. It was great seeing some of the key staff members and getting an update on the programs.

Thanks to the AFA staff who did a fantastic job making us feel warm and welcome. I hope we didn’t steal too much attention from the other classes, but also hope that we have provided a solid example of alumni loyalty to the school and to our ‘band of brothers’ from 1966.

I have been attending Farragut Homecomings since the 80’s and Wanda and I think this was one of our favorite Homecomings we have attended. The campus activities, neat appearances, the friendliness of the staff and cadets, to all the great events, it was energizing. Farragut is alive, well, and I am proud of my alma mater.

With the exceptional planning by the Alumni and Development office, the Class of ’68N enjoyed what would certainly be our best Class reunion ever. More importantly, you made us feel a true part of Admiral Farragut Academy South. My heartfelt thanks to all.

Last night’s farewell ceremonies were outstanding and, honestly, an event that I did not want to leave. A rally of cadets and families with like-minded ideas about the one true message conveyed. Admiral Farragut Academy is beloved and must continue on to meet the future needs for the sake of perpetuating all that we have grown to love.

It was such a wonderful honor for me to speak to the AFA alumni community. Thank you for having me, my family and friends had a wonderful time.

Thank you to the entire staff at Farragut for putting on a series of events that both made us feel welcome and entertained us! We had a wonderful time! Our seven-year-old, Nathan, loves being at Farragut and being a part of the events. It was a memorable homecoming, something we look forward to being a part of for many years to come.

I was fortunate enough to have attended the recent reunion at AFA. I am class of 92S and truly enjoyed the activities hosted by the school as well as gatherings with fellow classmates. Its amazing to see how AFA has transformed into such a modern facility and progressing towards the future.

As my 20-year alumni reunion came and went I’ve come to realize what Farragut Homecoming really meant to most of us. It was our childhood and our adulthood all combined into one, and we were able to pick up where we left off 20 years ago. Some of us a little balder and fatter some of us haven’t changed at all, but still we are all close like a family of estranged cousins who hadn’t seen each other since childhood, and that Farragut bond had not been broken.

Homecoming this year was a blast! The class of ‘98 had a great turn-out for our 20th reunion. The students made us feel very welcome on campus too, which was great to see.
