Brooke Liu ‘16 and Jason Chen ‘18 biked to Miami over Spring Break

Brooke Liu and Jason Chen rode their bicycles — Brooke, a Specialized Allez, and Jason, a Dawes —  from St. Petersburg to Miami, departing from St. Petersburg as soon as school got out on March 25. The trip lasted three days.

“The adventure sounds crazy but it was an unforgettable experience,” said Brooke, who will attend Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland for college beginning in the fall.. “The last part of the trip was tough to finish but it was completely worth it. The scenery was incredible. And it was the type of memory to salute my senior year and also my last year in America.”

The two students departed from Farragut on Friday, March 25 at noon and arrived at Apollo Beach on Friday night, where they camped overnight. On the second day, they made it to Punta Gorda. On the third day, they stopped at the Midway campground in Everglades for a bit before arriving in Miami on Monday afternoon.

The exact total for the trip was 310 miles. The two returned to St. Petersburg by taking the train from Miami to Tampa and then getting a car ride back to campus from one of their friends
