Upper School celebrates spirit week and homecoming court
Last week was Spirit Week at Admiral Farragut Academy. Our Upper School students showed their spirit with four themed days of dress-up, and the homecoming court was announced at Thursday’s lacrosse game against Sarasota High School, where the BlueJackets won 14-3.

Tuesday – Decades Day
On Tuesday, Upper School went back in time for Decades Day. 12th graders dressed in 90s clothes, 11th graders in 80s clothes, 10th graders in 70s clothes, 9th graders in 60s clothes, and 8th graders in 50s clothes. They participated in the beginning of a week-long chess tournament, games on the basketball court, and volleyball at the waterfront.
Wednesday – Flock/Character Day
On Wednesday, groups of friends formed flocks by dressing similarly, or like characters. There were quite a few takes on this, including Hawaiian shirts, Mario & Luigi, and a doctor & nurse! Though the morning weather was rough, the afternoon was clear enough to play capture the flag on the football field, in addition to more chess and volleyball.
Thursday – Sports Day
On Thursday, students represented their favorite sports teams with jerseys, T-shirts, and even full athletic uniforms. The students who weren’t still participating in the chess tournament converged on the football field to play soccer, and on the softball field to play kickball.
Thursday Evening – Lacrosse Game and Homecoming Court
On Thursday evening, the Farragut BlueJackets Lacrosse team pulled out a 14-3 win over the Sarasota High School Sailors. At halftime, the homecoming court was presented, and Daniel Krueger and Ella Sokolowski were announced as Homecoming King and Queen.

Friday – Colors Day
On Friday, Upper School got colorful as students celebrated colors day. 12th graders dressed in black, 11th graders in red, 10th graders in blue, 9th graders in green, 8th graders in white, and even teachers were included, dressing in purple. The chess tournament concluded, and students played kickball and soccer again. They also added tug-o-war to the mix!
