Sasha DeSilva ‘16 is National Merit Scholarship Finalist

This year Admiral Farragut Academy senior student Sasha DeSilva claimed the coveted spot as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Sasha achieved the finalist status thanks to her performance on the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in which she scored in the top one percent. Read more

Rachel Goldstein ‘16 learns and practices the act of paying it forward
When it came time for Rachel Goldstein ‘16 to create her Girl Scout Gold Award project, the choice was easy.
“When I was in the hospital as a little kid, I was given a dolphin stuffed animal to calm me down,” said Rachel, who is in her 12th year with the Girl Scouts. “I decided to create the Toys for Toddlers to Teens project. It felt good to be able to give back like that.”

16 students win regional scholastic writing awards

Congratulations to 16 of our 12th grade English students who won for their poetry, short story, and essay entries in the southwest regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Gold key winners will continue and their entries will compete nationally. The National Medalists will be announced on March 14, 2016. Read more
The Tall Ship Lynx to visit St. Petersburg, student tours included
The tall ship Lynx in from St. Petersburg’s Harborage Marina in 2014. The ship was built to near-exact specifications of the original fast, armed privateer Lynx, which helped America in the War of 1812 against the British. SCOTT KEELER I TIMES
The Tall Ship Lynx, an interpretation of a Baltimore privateer, Topsail schooner used during the War of 1812, will make its annual visit to St. Petersburg when it arrives in the Harborage Marina at Bayboro on February 16 and lasting until February 20, when it sets sail for its home port in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. This is the only appearance of Lynx in Tampa Bay this year and specifically to the benefit of Admiral Farragut Academy and their students. Read more
Students make an appearance at Nina Harris Center, change lives in the process
Members of Admiral Farragut Academy’s prestigious drill team and the Class 2A District championship football team visited the kids at the Nina Harris Center for Exceptional Children on Wednesday, January 27th in what has become an annual event. Appearing for the fifth time, the cadets from Farragut delighted the students, faculty, staff and family members with performances by the armed and unarmed exhibition drill team as well as a 7-on-7 game by the football players.
