Over Spring Break, Upper School Spanish teacher, Cesar Robalino, and Commandant Office Assistant, Beverly Gonczar, took a group of students on a trip to Spain and France. Miss Beverly wrote an account of their trip, which included stops in Barcelona, Madrid, Provence, and Paris.
Ten students, who take Mandarin Chinese with Mrs. Rue, competed at the 12th Annual Florida Statewide Chinese Competition (FSCC). This year the competition was held on February 10th and 11th 2017 at St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton.
On February 17th, three 7th grade students attended the Model United Nations Conference in Tallahassee as part of a club sponsored by Mrs. Rowe, social studies teacher, and Mrs. Morris, librarian. Read more
On Thursday, February 2nd 6th and 7th grade headed to Florida’s capital, Tallahassee, for an overnight field trip. The two-day field trip was packed with educational fun. “The students learned all kinds of things, from history to government to personal responsibility,” said lower school math teacher Larisa Levin who coordinated the field trip.
Recently, Mr. Xenakis’ 20th Century History Honors class took a guided tour of the Armed Forces Museum in Largo, Florida. The class visited the museum after being made aware that it would close on January 29, 2017. Read more
For several years, 4th and 5th grade students have taken a field trip to Gatorland and the Kennedy Space Center, and every single year it’s been out of this world.
Kindergarten and first grade learned about “Goods and Services” during their Social Studies class last week and put their knowledge to use at a local McDonald’s owned by the Salebra family.

On Friday, December 2, eleven students traveled to Keiser University in Tampa with Stephen Mikell, Upper School Physics and Math teacher and DECA faculty sponsor, to compete in the DECA district competition. According to www.deca.org, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. Read more
On Monday, October 26th, 5th grade students spent the day at Enterprise Village by the Stavros Institute. Enterprise Village is a self-contained economic education program that provides a hands-on learning experience unlike any other. Read more
This past week 15 Advanced Placement U.S. History students travelled back in time to the mid-18th century for “Cannon School”. The students, along with Upper School social studies teacher, Mark Panuthos, and ESOL/English teacher, Tracy Reilly, spent five days in St. Augustine, which is the oldest city in the United States of America.
