Three 7th grade students attend Model United Nations Conference
On February 17th, three 7th grade students attended the Model United Nations Conference in Tallahassee as part of a club sponsored by Mrs. Rowe, social studies teacher, and Mrs. Morris, librarian.
The Model United Nations provides the opportunity for students to debate contemporary world issues on the United Nation’s agenda. Students write speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and practice the conference rules of procedure within UN communities.
Our students, Ben Crawford, Matthew Levin, and Tyler Turner, represented Italy in the General Assembly and Security Council. Their topics included protecting citizens in armed conflict, the impact of climate change on sustainable development, and transnational organized crime’s threat to global security.
