Women’s Wrestling Team competes in Florida Girl’s State Wrestling Tournament

The Admiral Farragut Academy Women’s Wrestling Team competed in the final tournament of the year this past Friday and Saturday called the Florida Girl’s State Wrestling Tournament. This year’s tournament saw over 300 girls competing across 14 weight classes. These numbers consistently put Florida at the top in the nation for participation and competition in women’s wrestling. “The competitiveness and caliber of wrestling continues to grow as this was by far the toughest field of competitors so far,” said Head Coach Tony LoRusso.

Upper School students compete at annual Florida statewide Chinese competition

Over two days, January 31 and February 1, Upper School Mandarin Chinese teacher Mrs. Rue took ten students from Chinese I, Chinese II, and Chinese IV to participate in the Florida Chinese Teachers Association (FCTA) 15th Annual Florida Statewide Chinese Competition (FSCC) at the Lake Yale Conference Center.

Upper School students place high in Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition initiative for creative teens across the country in grades 7-12 with 29 different categories to submit work into.

Farragut students advocate for change on Capitol Hill

Admiral Farragut Academy Upper School students, Jaeden Geffon ‘22 and Brandon Ortiz ‘21, traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the L’Taken Social Justice Seminar, a four-day Jewish public policy conference hosted by the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC). Nearly 2,000 high school students participate and this is Jaeden’s second year participating in the program and Brandon’s first year. While there, they visited Capitol Hill to advocate, as a unified voice, on issues of importance to our society today.

Lower School students attend police K9 field trials and competition

Admiral Farragut Academy parent, female wrestling coach, and K9 trainer, Sheriff Deputy Tony LoRusso, invited students in 3rd-6th grade to attend the United States Police Canine Association, Inc. (USPCA) K9 field trials in Pinellas County. Admiral Farragut Academy takes pride in exposing our young students to different career paths and was grateful to attend. Read more

6 student-athletes sign for college on National Signing Day 2020

On Wednesday, February 5th, Admiral Farragut Academy’s athletics department held a ceremony in DeSeta Hall for National Signing Day. 6 student-athletes from 3 different sports signed to continue their athletic career at the college level.
