Seventh-grader Jacob Arias and third-grader Jacob Cuesta have more in common than their school and first names: Both have taekwondo black belts, and both gold-medaled at the July 2019 AAU Junior Olympics.

Please join the English department in congratulating international student Diana Romanovskaya for winning the Gold Regional Scholastic Writing Award for her works titled, “The Reality of a Writer’s Mind”, “Death as Salvation”, and “The Ink”. Some other authors who have received Gold Scholastic Writing Awards are Stephen King, Truman Capote, Joyce Carol Oates, and Sylvia Plath.
On February 11th Admiral Farragut Academy had an opportunity to recognize one of its top leaders during the morning formation. The Academy is pleased to announce that CLTJG Shyann Laporte ’20, an outstanding cadet, has been recognized as one of only five students to be chosen from among hundreds as a winner of the West Point Society of West Florida’s prestigious General Norman H. Schwarzkopf Leadership Award.
Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge No. 291 recognized Farragut Cadet Shyann LaPorte ’20 with the presentation of the ‘Steven M. Fetherman JROTC Excellence Award’ on November 29th at the Lodge’s Annual Awards Dinner. This award is presented to a JROTC student who excels academically, demonstrates strong leadership skills, and is active in the community and school.
Please join the Aviation Department in congratulating Trevor Eoriatti ‘19 on earning his solo endorsement. Trevor flew solo at Albert Whitted for the first time on November 8, 2018, in a Cessna 172, tail number N54058.
During summer 2018, three Farragut cadets Steven Smiley, Gianni Defelice, and Evan Schlifstein, all members of the Class of 2019, were selected to attend the American Legion Boys State program, a premier leadership camp held at Florida State University in Tallahassee, based on their leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service in Farragut’s community.
