Admiral Farragut Academy awarded $5,000 by The Outback Bowl
On March 4, 2020, for the second year in a row, Farragut parent and Outback Bowl Board Member Christopher Giblin presented a $5,000 check to the Farragut Fund to be used in support of teachers and students. Giblin is father to Farragut sixth-grader Christopher Giblin.
The Outback Bowl features teams from the Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference and is played Jan 1 in Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.
The Farragut Fund supports teachers and students. These philanthropic dollars are used to enhance faculty and staff compensation, provide for facility professional development, augment tuition assistance, and add additional resources for the Academy’s signature programs of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics), aviation, marine science, sailing, and scuba.
The Outback Bowl Charitable Initiative provides funding to dozens of deserving Tampa Bay organizations that are meeting the needs of the community. The bowl boasts the longest college football tradition in the Tampa Bay area and will celebrate its 35th game this next New Year’s Day. The Outback Bowl is proud to support education, the Tampa Bay economy, and local charities each year.
