Parents and friends enjoy 2nd Annual Poker Run to support Farragut athletics
The Admiral’s Athletics Club held its 2nd Annual Poker Run on Saturday, February 11th in downtown St. Petersburg. The event was the inspiration of parents Joey Sokolowski and Mary Rice. Last year was the inaugural event to support our sports through the Admiral’s Athletics Club and all participants of the sell-out event agreed this needed to be an annual event.
On what was a gorgeous afternoon, 65 parents and Farragut friends gathered at The Galley on 4th Street North to get their first card in their hand of poker. Participants enjoyed happy hour specials at each location and the socializing began.
The walking tour continued to Del Mar located on Central Avenue where the excitement continued to build. Participants were dealt their 2nd poker card and continued the fun in the fabulous setting of this restaurant. The Farragut moms took lots of selfies to post as we continued to Ringside Cafe on 2nd Street North. There we mingled with another group on a Poker Run to support Pet Pals. That group had their pets with them which entertained us all.
The Yard of Ale on 1st Ave North was our next stop for poker and great music. Last but not least we ended at Thirsty First on the corner of 1st and 1st where our sponsor, John Poe Architects, provided much needed food created by the owner of Thirsty First. The food was enjoyed by all while we determined who had the best (and worst) poker hand.
Special thanks goes to parents, Taryn and Hugh Seeley, for handling the registration and dealing of poker cards! We could not have done the event without their help.
Thank you to Greg Rice for being our poker results officiator. He sorted through all the hands and the results were:
- Best Hand – Jeff Ulevich won with 3 Kings and a Queen and took home $500
- 2nd Best Hand – Jackie Edelen won with 3 Kings and a Jack and took home $200
- Worst Hand of the night – Patti Magenheimer won and took home $100
The 50/50 Chance Drawing reached $1,190 and was split between the Admiral’s Athletics Club and John Kieffer who took home $595!!
The remaining raffle prizes donated by each poker run location, Aacardi the Salon, Diamond’s Direct, and Great Bay Distributing were shared among the lucky participants.
If you could not attend this year…watch for our date to be published for next year. This is a “don’t miss it” event!
