The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) voted on August 14, 2020, for the 2020 Fall Sports Season to start on August 24th. Here are all of our details regarding practices, games, and safety precautions for the fall sports season.
Dear Farragut Community,
Recently, Capt Fine informed the Farragut Board of Directors that he had been advised to take a much-needed leave of absence due to some health concerns. Because of the unprecedented times we are experiencing, the Board did not want the Headmaster position to remain vacant during Capt Fine’s absence. The Board has retained an Interim Head of School, COL Donna Brazil to serve until Capt Fine returns in mid-November.
Admiral Farragut Academy won 2020 People’s Choice Best of the Best by the Tampa Bay Times in three categories for the second year in a row!
- Best private school for Preschool
- Best private school for Grade/Middle School
- Best private school for High School
In 2019, Farragut also won in those categories. Thank you to all of our supporters who took the time to vote.
Farragut’s footprint has evolved with the new addition of DeSeta Hall, and the class of 1980 has joined together to raise funds to provide a legacy gift for Farragut.
Although homesickness at boarding school doesn’t happen to every single boarding school student, most do report being homesick at least once during their first year. There can be many reasons why a boarding student may feel homesick, but it’s important that students learn how to deal with it early on.
After Homecoming 2019, Farragut alumnus Skip Thaeler ‘66S wrote this poem about brotherhood and why alumni come back to Farragut year after year.
We want to thank many donors for their support of Farragut families during this time of COVID-19. We are humbled and encouraged by the Farragut community including parents, alumni, faculty, staff, board members, and friends who have donated to the Farragut Fund for financial aid helping Farragut families in need due to the pandemic. We have received over $115,000 in donations since starting the campaign on May 19, 2020. These donations directly impact boarding and day students who otherwise may not be able to return to Farragut in August.
