Students experience the best of Italy during spring break

Upper School Spanish instructor Cesar Robalino, who typically serves as the lead chaperone on the European trip during spring break, took five students abroad to Italy. Over the 10 days, the group — Maximillian Kostyashkin, Luke Markus, Gage Sears, Dominic Mazzone, and Matthew Hajek, along with Mr. Mazzone — visited Venice, Florence and Rome.

18 students attend ski trip to Park City, Utah

Rob Ewing, Jose Hercher and Jim Christopher took a group of 18 students to Park City, Utah for an annual ski trip. This is the 11th year in a row for the ski trip, the first 9 years were at Squaw Valley, the past 2 have been at Park City, Utah. Read more

When Mike Vaughn and his wife, Sara Moola, first met 13 years ago in Tampa, the two had already canvassed the globe in their respective careers – Mike as an Air Force Special Operations officer and Sara, first as a Peace Corps volunteer and then as an executive working with Geospatial Information Systems across US Government and Commercial industries including US Special Operations Command, UN, and the World Bank. Through their conversations and common passion, they both came to understand how much they each wanted to make a difference in the world. Read more

Brooke Liu ‘16 and Jason Chen ‘18 biked to Miami over Spring Break

Brooke Liu and Jason Chen rode their bicycles — Brooke, a Specialized Allez, and Jason, a Dawes — from St. Petersburg to Miami, departing from St. Petersburg as soon as school got out on March 25. The trip lasted three days. Read more

Too often in life, the general public takes the brilliance of technology for granted. Millions of people get in an automobile each morning without much thought of its origin, completing tasks on a second nature manner to move from point A to point B, all while never recognizing the fact it takes a myriad of components to make the vehicle run. Scientific concepts such as Newton’s laws, inertia, momentum, Bernoulli’s principle, kinetic and potential energy, heat energy, electrical energy and changes of energy hardly flash through the mind during one’s daily commute. Scuba Dive Club explores six springs in North Florida

Over the weekend the Admiral Farragut Academy Scuba Dive Club ventured to North Florida and dove six springs which included Ginnie Springs, Devil’s Eye, Devil’s Ear, Little Devils, Orange Grove Sink, and Peacock Springs. Some students did open water diving, some did cavern, and two did some cave diving. Read more

Lower School holds speech contest, 7th grader Casey McKee continues to city-wide competition

The Lower School held it’s annual speech contest right before Spring Break. Congratulations to winners Jillian Aprile, 5th grade, and Casey McKee, 7th grade. Casey will go on to represent Admiral Farragut Academy in the city-wide speech contest sponsored by the St. Petersburg Rotary Club, which will take place at St. Petersburg High School on April 21. Over the years, we have introduced members of our Corps of Cadets into many of our alumni events throughout the country. It is an honor that we introduce you to two cadets that wave the Farragut Flag with pride and strength. Seniors, Michael Cooney and Jack Winters, are model Farragut cadets that we are extremely proud of. Both came to Farragut with personal goals and will graduate this May prepared for the next step as mature, confident individuals.
