The summer boarding camp at Admiral Farragut Academy called “Summer@Farragut” continues to grow into a summer experience like no other and the 2016 edition proved to be no different. With a total of 77 campers attending from 10 different states and 11 other countries, the summer-long boarding program brought together students from around the world to the campus in St. Petersburg for education and fun.
Rob Ewing, Jose Hercher and Jim Christopher took a group of 18 students to Park City, Utah for an annual ski trip. This is the 11th year in a row for the ski trip, the first 9 years were at Squaw Valley, the past 2 have been at Park City, Utah. Read more
Why Farragut? My cousin, Vitor Boccardo, went here and told me how great of a place it is. [Vitor, who graduated from Farragut in 2004, was a four-time Academic Honor Roll student who led Admiral Farragut Academy to three straight Florida State High School Final 4 appearances, including the state championship as a senior while playing basketball for coach Michael Wells. Vitor played two years at Loyola Marymount University before finishing at West Florida College in 2008. Afterwards, he played basketball professionally in Brazil. Vitor plans on returning to the U.S. to coach in college. This past December, he visited Pedro Franco here in St. Petersburg.] I knew it was best boarding school. Nikita Zinovyev is a freshman boarding student who is in his second year attending Farragut. He is originally from Moscow, Russia and is the son of Igor, an economist, and Maria, a lawyer. Nikita has two younger brothers — aged 10 and 7 — who live with their parents back in Moscow but Nikita believes they will both attend high school in America like him one day.

Over the Winter Break, Farragut soccer coach Cesar Robalino took six students to Munich, Germany for an eight-day trip to participate in the GFL Soccer Enterprises team camp. The players who went included Joey Ambrefe ‘18, Josh Biggins ‘17, Alex Fiorillo ‘19, Kaan Gezen ‘17, Dylan Miksch ‘19, Alex Oi Moreno ‘19, and Ivan Volkov ‘17. Read more

Over the Thanksgiving break, Steve and Joy Edwards took a group of five students — Michael Cooney ‘16, Maya Cooney ‘20, Josh Fixler ‘19, Jack Klingel ‘20, and Maddy Landry ‘19 — to Washington, D.C. for what they described as “an educational adventure” with the group visiting historic landmarks like the United States Capitol, Library of Congress, and the Pentagon. This was the seventh straight year Mr. and Mrs. Edwards have taken a group to the nation’s capital. Read more
