Good morning Lower School. My name is Hannah Singleton and this is Sophia Preston. This morning, we are here to talk about CASA, which is a cause Student Council is deeply devoted to. CASA is an organization that provides food, shelter and lifesaving services to women, men and children. During the month of November, we will be hosting a food drive to help support the needs of CASA. Starting Monday, we will be collecting non-perishable food items such as soup, cereal, fruit juice, tuna, and many other items. The food can be dropped off at the Lower School office.
Let’s come together as the Lower School and make a difference in the lives of those in need. Thank you.
Character Words for November are Patriotism & Citizenship:
Citizenship requires doing our share for our community and our country. Being a good citizen means caring about the good of society and participating actively to make things better.
Patriotism is an important part of good citizenship. Patriotism is the love of and loyalty to our country.
To help us better understand Patriotism and Citizenship, I have invited Mr. Merryman to speak about them. Before I bring Mr. Merryman up to speak I would like to give you some background on him. Mr. Merryman is married and has two children, Jordan, who is in our 3rd-grade class & Jessica who is attending college. He has 19 years of government service and 25 years as an entrepreneur building and operating companies both within the United States and overseas. He is currently retired. Mr. Merryman served in the United States Navy for eight years primarily with the Navy SEAL teams. He was recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and worked Counterterrorism and Prep school Operations worldwide for 11 years with full-time overseas assignments in Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. He has traveled to 112+ countries and has lived overseas in six countries. He has had the privilege of serving his country in numerous varieties of operations and endeavors, over many years, as both a government employee and contractor. The highlight of his career was being selected to serve on the 1st United States response team after 9/11 which was the first team into Afghanistan.
Mr. Singleton for Patrol Recognitions:
Safety Patrol continues to do an outstanding job each day. I would like to recognize two students who have been recommended for promotion by our captain, Katie Lynch. These two individuals have been present for most of our morning and afternoon patrol duties and they are always eager to help with all patrol responsibilities. It is my pleasure to promote Danielle Larrinaga and Jacob Singleton to the rank of Sergeant.
To end our assembly Grades 1/2/3 will be singing, “You’re a Grand Old Flag”.
