Ballad Health President and CEO Alan Levine ‘85S battles the pandemic in the Southeast
President and CEO Alan Levine ’85S has been with Ballad Health for over two years but has over 25 years of hospital operations experience. Ballad Health represents 21 hospitals and over 3,000 physicians and providers in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
“We have team members in the hospital now fighting for their lives because they have been exposed because they were helping other people,” he said.
Levine knew he had to do something and is donating 100% of his salary over 60 days to those employees infected by the virus through an employee assistance fund within the Ballad Health Foundation.
His resume includes serving as the Secretary for the Department of Health in Louisiana and the Secretary of Florida Agency for Health Care under Governor Jeb Bush. During that time, Levine also oversaw the health care response to 12 major hurricanes making landfall in Florida and Louisiana and managed Louisiana’s response to the H1N1 Influenza Pandemic.
Levine has been recognized by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the 30 Americans likely to have a powerful impact on the healthcare industry in the next 30 years. View the article which includes a video interview here.
