Farragut connections jumpstart television career for alum Thomas Salomon ‘15
During the 2019 Army Navy Alumni Weekend, Joseph Zolfo ’86N met fellow alumnus Thomas Salomon ’15. During this meeting, Salomon expressed his desire to get into TV production after reading about Zolfo’s career which was highlighted in the Spring 2019 edition of Reveille. Salomon reached out to Zolfo after his graduation from Drexel University last fall to see if there were any opening opportunities in TV production. After interviewing, Zolfo hired Salomon as his production assistant for the new television series he is producing called Stargirl.
Stargirl is an American superhero TV series based on the DC comics. It is currently being filmed in Atlanta, GA, and will air on The CW. Stargirl follows a high school student Courtney Whitmore, who discovers the cosmic staff and becomes the inspiration for a new generation of superheroes who end up becoming the Justice Society of America.
Zolfo is enjoying diving back into filming after many months of no production due to the pandemic and expressed, “Thomas is the best assistant I have ever had over these many years, and I have had many,” he said. “Thank you so much for introducing him to me. When he grows beyond me, you must get me another Farragut grad to fill his shoes.”
The power of the Farragut Alumni Network is strong and is instrumental in supporting each other through mentoring, strategic introductions, networking, to letters of recommendations. In Salomon’s case, a job opportunity was provided that will impact his future and a new career in TV production.
Season 2 of Stargirl is set to premiere on The CW in the summer of 2021. You can stream every episode of season one on The CW’s website.
