Foundation Funds
The Foundation was created in 1997 and has acted as the school’s separate 501(c)(3) endowment since. These funds are a permanent investment in the future of Farragut as a commitment to furthering the mission for future generations while providing immediate support through the Foundation’s annual distribution. Endowed funds are invested, rather than used as cash for immediate needs. The earnings from the endowment are distributed to support financial aid programs, academic or athletic programs, boarding programs, and facilities. One hundred percent of alumni gifts are directed to The Foundation (unless otherwise specified by the donor).
Endowed Funds
Founders Fund (General Fund for Financial Aid)

Established by classmates of Mark Saunders, ’71S, who exemplified the Farragut spirit and loved AFA sports, the fund annually provides a deserving cadet as well as the Farragut athletic department an award. As the fund grows, the number of cadet awards and the school donation grows in relation to the fund size. Contribution to the fund is open to all Cadets, Farragut friends, and corporations interested in a broad-based Farragut experience which includes varsity sports and recognizing Farragut’s spirit.

Class of 1973 FUND
We know that many of you already donate to funds within the Foundation and we thank you! We can see how our gifts are making a difference in the lives of the cadets. This year, we ask you to direct your support to the newly established fund; Class of 1973 Fund – $40,000 for 40 years. The purpose of this fund will be to support a financial aid recipient for fours years of high school and award a new recipient every four years. This student will be selected by a scholarship committee based on academic and extracurricular criteria.
Aviation Fund
Farragut Aviation Academy Director Robert Ewing recently said, “Having taught Farragut cadets to fly for the past 16 years, I know the impact flight training can have on a cadet’s self esteem. Flight training instils all the qualities we want in our young people today; effective communication, responsibility, and accountability. Furthermore, it encourages our educational goals by developing an appreciation and understanding of science, technology and mathematics.”
The cost of flight training has risen significantly over the last few years, making the affordability of this program very difficult for many of our current students. With your support we can offer flight training to all deserving cadets, as well as provide annual enhancements for our Aviation Program, continuing the proud Farragut tradition of providing quality, professional flight training.

The SW Florida Scholarship exists as a way for members of different areas to not only give back to their community but back to Farragut in the form of financial aid. Each year, the committee will select a candidate to receive the two year (Junior & Senior) financial aid award.

Our Recognized Donors
The Blue Jacket Club
The ongoing commitment of our donors to the values and ideals upon which Admiral Farragut Academy is based reflects the enduring importance of the Academy in their lives. It is a beautiful testament to their desire to show appreciation to the school that has done so much for them and many others. Farragut would not be what it is today without the generosity of those who share their resources with us. Giving to one’s alma mater stands at the beautiful crossroads between paying the school back for the benefits it has imparted to oneself, and then also paying the school forward for the benefits one’s gift will impart to others. The Blue Jacket Club consists of donors who have given a lifetime giving exceeding $100,000. We are grateful for their exceptional generosity.

Heritage Society Members
Invest in the future of Admiral Farragut Academy
The Heritage Society is a society of donors who have bequeathed estate gifts to Admiral Farragut Academy. Heritage Society membership indicates that Admiral Farragut Academy and or the Foundation is included in the estate giving plans of a donor. Some members will give4 through a simple will bequest, transfer of ownership of life insurance, or elect to use one of the many options available through various trust arrangements.
The method of giving is not as important as the decision to give. Our ability to continue to affect and impact each future generation is dependent upon the direct involvement of those who understand and value the Farragut Experience.
This special group of Farragut supporters has made a lasting impact on education through a variety of estate-planning tools including bequests in a will or trust, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, IRA designations, or gifts of life insurance.
