Curriculum

All dive courses are taught and certified through SCUBA Diving International (SDI) standards. SDI is a part of the family of SCUBA Diving International/Technical Diving International/Emergency Response Diving International/Performance Freediving International (SDI/TDI/ERDI/PFI) Organization (tdisdi.com). Medical courses are taught and certified through the standards of the Diver Alert Network (DAN). (dan.org). Some courses and specialties may have a minimum age and/or experience level requirement to participate.

All Scuba certifications earned with Admiral Farragut Academy are honored internationally and can be carried for a lifetime.

Scuba Open Water Diver

During the Open Water Diver Program, students will learn basic physics, physiology, decompression theories, dive computers, and practical skills to become safe and knowledgeable scuba divers. The course fee includes an entry-level personal dive computer that becomes the property of the student. The cost is $1,100 for the following certifications:

Open Water Diver
First Aid/CPR/AED and other entry-level safety courses
Specific entry-level specialties are available once Open Water Qualifications and coursework are completed.

Advanced Adventure Diver Program

Scuba

During the Advanced Adventure Diver Program, the students are introduced to several specialty areas including night/low visibility diving, deep diving, underwater ecology, and underwater mapping and navigation. Certification is designed for the student to also gain experience through recreational diving outside of class. The cost is $1000 for the following certifications included in this course level.

Advanced Adventure Diver
Advanced First Aid/CPR/AED, a review of entry, and completion of mid-level safety courses
Specific mid-level specialties are available once Advanced Adventure Diver Qualifications and coursework are completed.

Rescue Diver Program Course

Admiral Farragut Academy's Scuba classes and club spent the 2020-2021 school year under the waves.

During the Rescue Diver Program, the students are introduced to upper-level diver first aid, physiology, swimming, diver and land-based rescue techniques, and emergency responses and techniques. The cost is $1000 for the following certifications included in this course level.

Rescue Diver
Upper-Level Diver First Aid/CPR/AED, Oxygen Administration, Advanced Diving Physiology, a review of entry and mid-level, and completion of first-level professional safety courses.
Successful completion of the medical requirements in this course qualifies the Cadet to apply for participation on the AFA Cadet Safety Squad.
Specific Upper-level specialties are available once Rescue Qualifications and coursework are completed.

Divemaster Candidate Program (Entry-Level Professional Certification)

During the Divemaster Candidate Program, students undergo an intensive academic, skills-based, and interpersonal relations program covering all aspects of entry into the professional recreational diving field. Divemaster Candidates gain experience under the close supervision of the Instructor by assisting in training divers for certification during Open Water, Advanced Adventure, or Rescue Diver courses. They follow the SCUBA instructor and learn professional leadership and instruction skills in the SCUBA classroom, pool, and dive locations. The cost is $1100 for the following certifications included in this course level.

Divemaster
Upper-Level Diver First Aid/CPR/AED, Oxygen Administration, Advanced Diving Physiology, a review of entry and mid-level, and completion of professional-level safety courses.
Successful completion of the medical requirements in this course qualifies the Cadet to apply for participation on the AFA Cadet Safety Squad.
Specific Upper-level specialties are available once Divemaster Qualifications and coursework are completed.
