About Anchors Away Summer Camp

Admiral Farragut Academy is pleased to offer your child a fun and educational summer camp called “Anchors Away Summer Camp”

The camp has four sessions where we plan to boost your child’s education through fun and interactive activities. In addition, we will offer a variety of daily sports, STEM activities, science experiments, learning lab, boating, swimming, water play, and other outdoor activities that include our beautiful campus’ amenities and waterfront marina. Get ready to set sail! It’s going to be the best summer yet!

Please note that this is a weekly water-based camp and daily swimming, weekly boat rides, water slides and more are part of the curriculum every week (weather permitted). Certified lifeguards monitor all campers.

  • Session 1: June 2-June 6
  • Session 2: June 9-June 13
  • Session 3: June 16-20
  • Session 4: June 23-27

Campers registering for Junior Counselors, Counselors-in-Training, or Counselors must attend mandatory training in the Student Center on Thursday, May 29th, 2025.


Aftercare

Aftercare is available until 5:30p-$20/day, $80/week

Camp Attendee Ages and Cost

  • The camp is offered for campers ages entering Kindergarten-5th grade. All attendees must be potty trained.
  • The cost is $300/week for campers or a discount of 5% for camper siblings attending the same week.  This includes registration fees and a camp t-shirt.
  • Junior Counselors: Children entering 6th-8th grade may sign up for a reduced price of $225/week. Students earn community service hours and train to become C.I.T.s (Counselor In Training), once they enter the 9th -12th grades.
  • Counselors-in-Training: There is no fee for C.I.T.s (campers entering grades 9th -12th) and students will earn community service hours.

A “Camper” is a child that is a rising Kindergarten-5th grader. These children do not have any responsibility during the camp.

Cost: $300 per week/per child. Accepts sibling discount.  Includes a camp t-shirt.

* If any registrations are submitted after June 2nd, the camp start date, we cannot guarantee a camp t-shirt.*

A “Jr. Counselor” is a rising 6th-8th grader. They will have some responsibility during the camp to prepare them to be a Counselor-In-Training. Accepted Jr. Counselors may also earn community service hours.

Cost: $225 per week/per Jr. Counselor.  Includes a camp staff t-shirt.

Jr. Counselors must:
  • Attend a Mandatory Training Session.
  • Submit one teacher recommendation emailed to jgrabowski@farragut.org and registration is required upon approval.
  • Returning JCs do NOT need to provide teacher recommendations, they only need to complete the registration.

A “Counselor-In-Training” also known as “CIT” is a rising 9th-12th grader. The CIT has a high level of responsibility during camp and depending on their leadership skills, responsibility, and overall work ethic, gives them the potential to be a paid Camp Counselor once they turn 18. Students already attending Admiral Farragut Academy have priority and applying does not guarantee a spot due to limited space.

Cost: No charge. Accepted CITs will earn community service hours.

Application Process: All applicants must apply and be approved by the camp directors to become a CIT.  CITs will be notified of acceptance once all paperwork and the teacher recommendation have been received. If the camp director determines that the CIT would not be the best fit after reviewing the registration, the student’s past discipline, and the teacher’s recommendation for the “CIT” position, you will be notified and receive a full refund.

Returning CITs:

  • Do not need to submit teacher recommendations, they only need to complete the registration and attend the mandatory meeting.

Farragut Returning CITs:

  • Only need to complete the Anchors Away Code of Conduct. All other paperwork is completed because they are an enrolled student. They still must attend the mandatory training.

A “Counselor” is a rising 12th grader, a college-level student, or an education teacher who is 18 or older. The Counselor is responsible for the Campers, Jr. Counselors, and Counselors-In-Training.

Cost: Eligible for a paid position or community service hours. Includes a daily lunch and staff camp t-shirts.

Application Process: All applicants must apply, submit teacher recommendations, be interviewed, and be approved by the camp directors to become a Counselor. Applicants must be fingerprinted.

Returning Counselors: Do not need to submit teacher recommendations, however, all other paperwork will need to be completed again.

Farragut Returning Counselors: Only need to complete the Anchors Away Code of Conduct. All other paperwork is completed because they are an enrolled student.

Approved Counselors must attend a Mandatory Training Session.
