Approximately 20 Residential Life staff members live in apartments within the dormitories or on-campus. There is adult supervision in the dorms at all times. Each hallway is also monitored by a boarding student with a leadership position within the Regiment.
Farragut Hall was built as a hotel by Walter Fuller in 1925 and was called the Jungle Country Club Hotel. The hotel rooms, located on the second and third floors of historic Farragut Hall were converted into dorm rooms.
Each room has its own bathroom, closet, bed, and desk for each boarder. This sets us apart from other boarding schools that have common bathrooms shared by many students. All dorm rooms are air conditioned with wireless internet access, and many have waterfront views.
Female and male dormitories are separated by alarmed doors at all times and male and female students are required to use separate staircases.
Roommates are chosen based on gender, grade, and to maximize cultural diversity. We try to pair international students with domestic students or those with common interests, such as sports or career aspirations. Each dorm room has a minimum of two and a maximum of three boarders. Residential Life staff works with all parties involved to ensure a pleasant roommate situation. We do offer the option of living alone at additional cost and upon availability.
You may hang posters (using only sticky tack or 3M Command hooks) and display framed pictures in good taste. You may not affix decals on any windows or furnish the room with personal furniture without approval from Residential Life. Unauthorized furniture is subject to removal without warning.
