AFA Mine Camp

Admiral Farragut Academy’s MineCamp combines STEM-focused outdoor adventures with engaging indoor activities, centered around mining, engineering, exploration, and building.

Two Weeks: June 1-5; June 8-12, 2026
Hours: 8am - 3pm
Aftercare is available for grades 3rd-5th until 5:30p
Price:
- Rising 3rd-6th graders: $745/week
- Session enrollment max per week: 23
- 10% sibling discount

Inside & Outside Activities

When it gets hot, campers head indoors for creative and educational endeavors in our specialized computer lab. Here, they delve into the digital realm of Minecraft, utilizing the educational version of the game for guided engineering and building challenges.

Science Lab

In the science lab students participate in science experiments and interact with various animals, including reptiles and fish.

Join us for an unforgettable summer filled with endless possibilities. Camps are open to EVERYONE, not just Farragut families. Bring a friend and enjoy your summer together!

All the Fun

Campers spend their mornings outdoors, enjoying the scenic AFA campus and its waterfront, engaging in hands-on activities that include:

• Mining fossils & gemstones
• Kayaking
• Boating & boat tours
• Exploring marine life
• Fishing & cast netting
• Metal detecting
• Drone piloting
• Swimming in the AFA pool
• Exploring marine life, fishing, and cast netting
• Science experiments, handling reptiles and fish

STEM Lab

In the STEM lab, campers engage in hands-on crafting and engineering using advanced tools such as:

• Laser cutting & metal engraving
• 3D printing
• Minecraft Education and coding
• Recycled plastic injection molding (Creating sunglasses & more from recycled plastic)
• Crafting rings from historic spoons
• Jewelry smithing with gemstones and fossils discovered while mining
• Fishing Rod Building
• Spike Prime Robotics
• Virtual reality activities
