For three days from June 14th to June 16th, Farragut was host to the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States (AMCSUS) Commandant’s Conference, an annual gathering of commandants from around the country. 16 commandants and their spouses attended, including our own Commandant Todd Wallingford and his wife, Kim York Wallingford.
On Tuesday, May 2nd, Admiral Farragut Academy’s Parents’ Group hosted the annual Appreciation Luncheon for our faculty and staff in the West Lounge.
A little over a year ago, the U.S. Navy celebrated six decades of a nuclear navy with the 60th anniversary of the USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine. The creation of such a vehicle – a byproduct of the Submarine Thermal Reactor Mark I nuclear experimental facility in southern Idaho under the guidance of Admiral Hyman G. Rickover – was a test of courage, will, judgment and resourcefulness and more so, a win over man’s constant battle with nature.
