Farragut Family Association 2019-2020 Recap
Dear Farragut Families,
The Farragut Family Association (FFA) would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the 2019-2020 school year. This was not a typical school year but together we did our best to end the year strong. Unfortunately, the FFA was not able to hold all of the originally planned events, one of which is typically the biggest fundraiser of the year – the auction/gala. We are happy to report the events we were able to host were successful and wanted to share a little recap. Family participation in these events is a great opportunity to build relationships with other parents and raise funds for the school.
Athletics
This is an ongoing focus throughout the year with the primary purpose to raise funds for all team sports. In the 2019-2020 school year, almost $20,000 was raised which allowed the purchase of a new heavy-duty washing machine, a new set of practice uniforms for all teams, new practice gear and a pitching machine for baseball, bounce backs for lacrosse, and new cooking and storage equipment for the concession stands.
Auction/Gala and Lower School Block Party
Unfortunately, these two spring events had to be canceled but will be scheduled for the 2020-2021 school year.
Save the date for the rescheduled auction/gala!

Back-to-School Parent Social
On August 19, 2019, the FFA held a very fun evening bringing over 200 parents, guardians, friends, and families together to socialize, learn more about the FFA, the school, and a chance to win a prize. View the recap here.
Bowl-A-Thon
This event was held in November 2019 and had over 60 participants with plans to return in the 2020-2021 school as requested. View the recap here.
Golf Tournament
This year’s tournament was held in October 2019 at the St. Petersburg Country Club. Over 80 golfers participated to help raise almost $8,000. Many golfers left with raffle prizes such as gift certificates to local restaurants, stores, golf lessons, rounds of golf, and/or equipment. View the recap here.
Poker Run
This event was held in September 2019 and had over 85 friends and family members in attendance. The large group was able to visit five local beach destinations and ended the night raising over $8,000. View the recap here.
Parking Spaces
Every year, the FFA offers families the option to purchase their own designated parking space on campus. Last year 12 spaces were sold at $3,000. Spaces are located in the Lower and Upper School car circles or in front of Deseta Hall. Spaces are limited and available on a first-come basis. Spaces for the 2020-2021 school year are currently for sale at a discounted price of $2,500. If you are interested in purchasing a space please email ffa@faragut.org and put “Parking Space” in the subject line.
Poinsettia Sale
Presales started in November and continued through the first week of December. The FFA and volunteers sold a total of 330 various styles of poinsettia arrangements and colors raising just over $2,000.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
Although we were not able to host the traditional luncheon, our teachers and staff members that work so hard to teach our students and maintain our beautiful campus were not forgotten. Each received a surprise Amazon gift card in their email reminding them how much they are appreciated especially during the challenging time.
Campus Changes
The estimated costs are over $150,000. With your support throughout the 2019-2020 school year, the FFA is able to give $60,000 towards these improvements. The funds will go towards the purchase of approximately 100 hand sanitizer dispensers which will be installed throughout the campus, thermal thermometers for administration, dining furniture to allow more seating in the West and East Lounges in Farragut Hall, extra cleaning supplies including spray bottles, disinfectant wipes, and masks for classrooms. The campus has also been professionally treated with a hospital-grade, long-lasting antimicrobial (Aegis) registered by the Environmental Protection Agency, approved to kill bacteria and inactivates viruses (SARS, H1N1, HIV, MRSA, and Staph) by EnClean. For more information on this please contact Farragut parent and Enclean owner Jon Covington at 727-685-2014, jon@encleanusa.com, or visit www.encleanusa.com.
Thank You
The FFA cannot thank our parents, volunteers, and donors enough for your continued support. As additional improvements or supplies are needed, the FFA will continue to help every way possible. contact us at FFA@Farragut.org or consider becoming an FFA Sponsor or Donor by visiting farragut.org/parents/farragut-family-association/.
As our society and social guidelines have changed and continue to do so, the FFA is reviewing previous events and how we can modify to follow the new “social guidelines” for our 2020-2021 events.
We wish you, your family, and friends a safe, fun, and relaxing summer and we look forward to seeing everyone when school begins in August.
Sincerely,
Patti Magenheimer
