BS in Marine Science & Biology from the University of Tampa and an MS in Science Education from Southern CT State University
Before she arrived at Farragut, Ms. Blake had been teaching for the past five years in Maryland. She is originally from Connecticut, but she has also lived in Florida (prior to now), and also in Illinois. Her undergraduate career began at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, where she studied Oceanography and was a recruited swimmer for the Division 1 Women’s Swimming and Diving Team. After two years she transferred to the University of Tampa, and completed her undergraduate degree with a BS in Marine Science & Biology. During that time she also got certified as a SCUBA diver through PADI, and worked her way up to Divemaster. She has been diving throughout Florida, the Caribbean, and other beautiful spots on our blue planet over the past 20+ years.
Her background is in marine science, first starting out as fisheries research biologist for the FL Marine Research Institute here in St. Pete, and then landed her dream job working with Bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions at Dolphins Plus, Inc. in Key Largo. If you would like to ask her anything about those years of experience, please do! She goes down to see her dolphins as often as she can, because they will always be her “gray-faced” children. After working with dolphins, she entered the veterinarian technician field and provided assistance to horses, cattle, farm stock, and then small domestics and exotics. As you can see, she loves working with animals!
