Degree(s) B.F.A., University of Hawaii 1972
Mary Shusta lived many years in Hawaii. There she explored three of her loves: art, nature and Asian culture. She took Montessori Elementary Teacher training in 1985 and worked as a private elementary school teacher at schools in California and on Maui.
In 2000, Miss Shusta began working as an independent contractor teaching art in both private and public schools for K through eighth grade, allowing her to combine her two passions of teaching and art.
Miss Shusta often incorporates story telling into her art lessons. She loves to show the connection of art to history and culture. She knows that children understand a time or place better when they experience its art with their own hands.
Mary loves trees, dancing and yoga. She likes to draw and paint flowers. Recently she has fallen in love with youtube.
