Lori Steenstra retired as Chief Mass Communication Specialist after serving 24 years in the U.S. Navy. While on active duty, she served as a Photographer/Photojournalist, Instructor, Station Manager, and Public Affairs Officer at various shore and sea duty assignments.
Lori is originally from Maine. Prior to joining the Navy, she served as a Physical Education and Adaptive Phys. Ed. teacher. Lori had a great, great grandfather; grandfather; two grandmothers; several aunts and uncles; and her parents who inspired her to continue in the field of Education. Her Dad was the High School Headmaster for four years.
Her passion is sports. Lori loves to participate and compete in various athletic contests (Tennis, Volleyball, Hockey, Golf, etc. to name a few). She is an avid New England Patriot and Boston Red Sox fan and loves watching professional sports on television and recording statistics during various contests/matches. She enjoys hiking and taking landscape pictures. A fun fact: In Maine, one of the key industries is fishing (Lobstering), but due to allergies, Lori is not able to eat shellfish.
