Purpose:
Summer Literacy Programs are essential for the maintenance of
academic gains from the previous school year, the development of
further literacy skills during the summer, and the acceleration of
literacy skills for the upcoming school year.
The literacy program provides a specific, trending “real world” focus
of study that enables summer scholars to incorporate and develop
their literacy skills directly into current research, and projects, and
serves as direct preparation and advancement for their upcoming
academic year.
Process:
Students work their way through the research process daily
A new “Trending” topic is introduced daily as the focus of study that
requires cross-curricular literacy development and skills
Research projects on the topic are created and presented in multiple
formats
Students utilize current education technologies and procedures that
prepare and advance them for their upcoming academic year.
