Two Admiral Farragut Academy BlueJacket football players, seniors Payton Wright and Jared Middleton, are participating in Johns Hopkins Hospital’s three-year study on the effects of concussive and sub-concussive hits on the brains of high school athletes. The study involves athletes wearing a monitor, which records data on the speed and force of each hit, as well as what direction the hit comes from. Read more

Softball team wins first Class 3A state softball championship in Farragut history

“One of the worst-best feelings in life is getting doused with gatorade,” Softball Coach Linda Derk said with a laugh. “You know you’re getting doused because you’re a champion, but wow it’s a sticky, gross feeling. It’s so worth it though. I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Champion is just the right word for the softball team, who knocked out Orlando’s Cornerstone Charter Academy to win the first Class 3A state softball championship in Farragut history.

Girls’ 2017 track team honored in Tampa Bay Times: Katie Barnett ‘17 Pinellas County athlete of the year and Arron Prather coach of the year

Class of 2017 valedictorian Katie Barnett placed as Pinellas County’s Athlete of the Year and Coach Arron Prather won Coach of the Year out of the entire Tampa Bay area.
