Admiral’s Own Band performs holiday concert
Held outside in the Garden Theater on Thursday, December 10 at 7pm, the Admiral’s Own Band performed a mix of holiday songs and traditional songs. They also did a special performance of the Imperial March from Star Wars in honor of the movie being released over the holidays. SAGE Dining provided cookies and hot chocolate.
“The Admiral’s Own Band always gets me in the mood for the holidays.” said Susan Cooney, parent of Michael Cooney ’16 who was the Band Commander last school year. “Although I felt heavy hearted this being Michael’s senior year, he has been busy preparing to graduate and seeks to attend The Naval Academy. Michael has played the trumpet since 4th grade. I remember when he had to practice with smart music and would not be satisfied with a 92%, often staying up very late to practice until he got 100%. As the years passed Michael improved and held the position of first chair in school, and has performed in many special events and is a joy to listen to. I am very fortunate to have my daughter, Maya, an 8th grader at Farragut who plays the sax and I can’t wait to hear what the band will sound like in 2020 when Maya graduates. I am so happy that the weather was beautiful for everyone who came to enjoy the evening.”
