Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger presents “208 Seconds: A Lifetime of Lessons”
“Sully’s” story is very unique and we know that this evening with him will be both inspiring and engaging – especially for school-age children who may be considering a career in aviation or the Navy. The event is at The Mahaffey Theater on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017 for an evening with Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger.
Captain Sullenberger was flying a United Airways jet out of New York’s LaGuardia Airport on a cold day in January 2009 when a bird strike caused the failure of both engines. All 155 souls on board were rescued after Sully and his crew safely guided the aircraft to an emergency water landing in the Hudson River. Sully’s skill, determination and ability to keep calm under pressure cemented his position as one of the great American heroes of our time.
The special presentation, 208 Seconds: A Lifetime of Lessons, will take place at The Mahaffey eight years to the day since the “Miracle on the Hudson.” Sully reminds audiences, even in these days of conflict, tragedy and uncertainty, there are values still worth fighting for – that life’s challenges can be met if we’re ready for them.
